Well kids, I hate to say it, but I think the time has finally come. I knew we’d eventually get here, and after giving it some serious thought I’ve decided it’s time to hang up my tights for now and call a wrap on Comic Culture. It’s been a great ride and I want to thank All-Comic for giving me a platform to spew my comic ramblings at you all each week. I’ve made some good friends out of this experience and becoming more ingrained in the comic culture (see what I did there?) has been a trip that I don’t regret at all.
But before we move on, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank each and every one of you for reading this column. My only hope is that you found it worthwhile, as well as got something/learned something along the way. I am by no means an expert of the medium, nor the industry as a whole, but we all have experiences and specific knowledge of our own and it was honor and privilege to share it with all of you. Also, thank you to everyone who felt comfortable with responding to my posts and starting a dialogue in general. It was nice to talk openly and honestly about comics. Simply put, that was the whole point of the column. So, once, more thank you.
In the end, is there more to be said about this wonderful hobby that we all know and enjoy? Sure. As long as the books keep coming out, there will always be things to comment on, criticise, and praise. The truth is sometimes you just get burned out, and needless to say I am burned out. I am not going to stop reading comics; I probably never will, but the proverbial well for me (writing wise) is starting to run a little dry and I need to go away for awhile.
This doesn’t mean goodbye forever. It just means goodbye for now. You will still be able to find me on twitter from time to time, so feel free to hit me up there. All-Comic isn’t going anywhere, so please still visit the site for their great previews, reviews, press releases and other columns. It truly is a great site, run by great people and I was happy to be a small part of it. Perhaps you might find me lurking in the shadows again one day.
