Relative unknown Ray Fisher has been cast as Cyborg in the forthcoming Man of Steel sequel helmed once again by Zack Snyder. This is yet another superhero added to the mix which already includes Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.

Cyborg’s civilian alias Victor Stone does not appear to have a major role in the sequel (according to sources), but definitely will in forthcoming endeavors specifically related to the Justice League Universe.

A creation of comic book legends Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, Cyborg debuted in 1980’s DC Comics Presents #26 and was a major part of the duo’s storied New Teen Titans run. Cyborg has been a part of the Justice League cast since the start of the New 52 era of DC Comics in September 2011, and has appeared in Warner Animation’s direct-to-home release features Justice League: Doom, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox and Justice League: War.

Fisher is known for his work in theater, having played Muhammad Ali on Broadway last year in Fetch Clay, Make Man. Previously, he was reported to be in contention for a lead role in Star Wars: Episode VII.

Directed by Zack Snyder, the Man of Steel sequel is scheduled for release on May 6, 2016 — the same date as Marvel Studios’ third Captain America film.
