By Gerry Duggan & Paco Medina

Since it launched last year, Nova has been a bright spot amidst all the gloom and doom. Where other stories bring out the dark and gritty approach, this series keeps things lighthearted and fun with an emphasis on the spectacle of space.

Since Gerry Duggan stepped in as writer on the series, the amount of times the reader will stop to laugh has skyrocketed. Nova’s interaction with Beta Ray Bill throughout the issue will leave a huge grin on your face. Sam is out to have fun as Nova, he doesn’t brood over his new responsibility, and Duggan nails his excitement perfectly.

Paco Medina’s art fits like a glove with this series. His action is explosive and quick, and the expressions he draws are hilarious and dramatic all at once. Between Medina and colorist David Curiel, this book is a gorgeous pleasure to look at whether you’re 6 or 60.

Nova is a fun book. Its got great art, fun and hilarious writing, grand adventure and spectacle and a lot more. If you ask me, that’s a recipe for a book that everyone, young and old, should be reading. Like now.
