We posted an update earlier today on Valiant’s movie plans so I thought I’d take it upon myself to post some thoughts on who I’d like to see involved in the film. Read on, and leave us your thoughts here or on Twitter.

The Story

There’s really no reason why Valiant wouldn’t base the first film on X-O Manowar’s first story arc, as it serves as a great introduction to the characters and sets up what could be a huge movie franchise with tons of sequels. The Valiant universe is pretty well connected – except for Shadowman – so they tie in possibilities are endless. The first arc also offers tons of action, scenes with barbarians, aliens, and epic battles – everything that would make this the perfect summer blockbuster movie. Robert Venditti has done an amazing job revitalizing the character, so it’s a no-brainer that he be involved in the film adaptation, even as just an advisor.

Much of the movie would require good CGI and special effects, as well as tons of extras, so there are only a few characters we’d like to see cast in the main roles.

The Cast

Travis Fimmel as Aric of Dacia

Ever since I saw Travis Fimmel in the History Channel’s Vikings series, I immediately placed him as Aric. His portrayal of a smart, cocky viking warlord would suit Aric well in film, and the resemble is pretty uncanny. Fimmel is tied to an upcoming Warcraft film, but we don’t yet know any definite movie news so scheduling may not be an issue.

Chris Pratt as Gafti

He may be busy with the Guardians of the Galaxy, but he’s got the look of a Visigoth, and since Gafti only plays a minor role in the storyline, an X-O film shouldn’t be too difficult to fit into his schedule.

Vin Diesel as Commander Trill

I know what you’re thinking…Trill will probably just be CGI. This may be true, but Diesel is no stranger to lending his voice to CGI characters – he is voicing Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy – and while we may not see his face in the film, his voice would suit the Vine commander well. Watch Pitch Black with your eyes closed and see what you think.

Richard Madden as Alexander Dorian

Richard Madden is best known for his role as Robb Stark on Game of Thrones. He has both the playboy looks and the acting range to play our favorite Vine seedling. His shooting schedule could be an issue in an X-O sequel, but he would make a great Alexander regardless.
