“Fiber is overtaxed! Hip-hop is undertaxed! Why don’t my grandkids visit more often? Where am I?”
Ain’t that the truth. Have you seen the taxes on fiber these days? They’re ludicrous!
Howard the Duck just can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to the case of the missing necklace. He spends this issue trying to once again get it back after having lost it again… wait… who’s mugging him now? Somebody call Spider-Man!
Writer Chip Zdarsky once again brings a great amount of humor to the story as Howard the Duck continues to fumble through the case. And poor Donna! The horror! The horror! (Donna is his secretary… she’s made of newspapers)
The artist on this series is Joe Quinones along with additional inks by Joe Rivera and colors by Rico Renzi. There isn’t a whole lot to the background details in this issue, but there are still plenty of fun pages to stare at while you contemplate life’s grand design. A great page comes when Howard goes undercover in search for clues to his case. He finds himself at a park trying to fit in with the other ducks (He’s not wearing pants!). Quinones does well with Howard’s facial expression in the first panel, as even though he’s just repeating the same thing as the other ducks “Quack!” you get the feeling he’s not really trying his hardest.
This issue gives the reader a big reveal and opens up the story to a whole other level. Howard’s got his work cut out for him if he plans on staying in the Private Eye business…
