Synopsis:

Once again, a lot of recap in this issue, but from the angle of the Harbinger kids. We get to see Kris’ angle on the birth of her baby this time. Aside from that, Pete enters the wormhole where Solar is being kept. He helps Solar overcome the self-loathing that is keeping him there. Solar then uses his powers to bring them out. Kris is captured by Pierce’s robots. Aric joins back in with the team. Pete rescues Kris from her cell. The team goes to help Solar battle Pierce. Geoff goes to Kris and tells her she must give him the baby.

Review:

Once we get past the events that we’ve seen in other issues, the events came fast and furious. We are definitely on the doorstep of the end of this event, and it’s very exciting. The coloring in this issue is absolutely fantastic! You can see why they have so many people assisting on the coloring. A lot of books are coming out quickly and they want the highest quality in all of them.

Although there is a lot of retreading of the same portions of the story across all of the titles, for the most part it is being done to very good effect. This issue is an example of the same story being told for a portion of the issue, but adding a lot of richness to it. I loved seeing Armstrong functioning as a midwife and coaching Kris through the birth while keeping Pete distracted. Great issue!

Coming up next is Solar #13, the seventeenth and next to last chapter of Unity!
