On this SPOOKY episode of Manga Mavericks, we’re celebrating Halloween with an extra episode of the podcast filled to the brim with all kinds of treats! The “full sized candy bar” being an episode previously released on our Patreon at the beginning of the year discussing The Comiq with translator Stefan Koza! The Comiq was a seven chapter mini-series written and illustrated by the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh! himself, Kazuki Takahashi, in celebration of Weekly Shonen Jump’s 50th anniversary back in 2018. The series itself is about an up and coming manga artist who somehow finds himself solving the murder of a victim that took place on October 31st! The timing was just too good for us to pass up!! For those of you who are patrons that may have listened to this discussion already, we also go over some news and talk about how excited we are about some recently announced manga licenses from Viz Media in particular, including the monumentos announcement of a new hardcover edition of Fist of the North Star! Plus a small review of Spirit Photagropher Saburo Kono, the newest one shot from Kaiu Shirai & Posuka Demizu, the duo behind The Promised Neverland! Enjoy!

This discussion was originally just one of many bonus podcasts available on exclusively on our Patreon, in which if you sign up for $5, you’ll receive a new bonus podcast at the end of every month!

About The Author Colton Solem

Colton is just your regular glasses wearing nerd residing in Saint Louis, Misery (that's a joke) who loves reading and collecting manga as a hobby and also records too many podcasts! He started off his podcasting escapades in 2013 when he created Life Lessons: The Gintama Manga Cast, which is dedicated to Gintama and its past English release of the manga. From there he became the co-host of shows such as the Manga Corner from Anime3000, Heavenly Kings, One Podcast Prevails and many more. Colton first discovered manga back in 2006 when he bought his first issue of Shonen Jump, and ever since then, his love and passion for manga took off from there! His favorite titles include One Piece, Eyeshield 21, My Hero Academia and much, much more. Oh yeah, guess he likes anime as well (but truth be told didn't know what it actually was until about 2007). Colton can be found frequenting sites such as MyAnimeList and Twitter under the handle of sniperking323.
