Hello, darlings! Welcome back to #LumSquad, a podcast hosted by @LumRanmaYasha and @ProdTally devoted to the wonderful and wacky world of Rumiko Takahashi’s Urusei Yatsura!

Urusei Yatsura’s getting a new anime!!! The Urusei Yatsura All-Stars reboot was announced on New Year’s Eve to bring in the year of the tiger with electrifying excitement! All of us Urusei Yatsura fans went out of our minds with this out-of-the-world announcement, and we couldn’t wait to talk about it on the show. Which is why right at the stroke of midnight (central US time), we recorded a special podcast covering everything we know about the upcoming anime and what to expect from it! That’s right, we recorded our first new podcast of the year literally right when the year began! I wish I could’ve released this episode as timely as we released it, but hey, at least it isn’t out of date yet!

Even if it’s a little late, this episode is still special because it’s our very first episode to have special guests! That’s right, we’re joined by VLord, host of many podcasts including the Shogakukan-focused podcast Saturday Night Shoggy, and Sakaki, co-host of Saturday Night Shoggy and webmaster of the Weekly Shogakukan Edition blog and Twitter, whose tweet about the news went viral hours before it was officially confirmed! We discuss our reactions to the leaks before the official confirmation came in, our thoughts on the new studio and actors, wonder if Nagotoro is the modern-day Lum, worry whether Ataru’s perviness would offend modern viewers, what stories we expect to be adapted, and whether we think the new show will broaden UY’s worldwide popularity!

So join us as we put weird and weird together yet again and embrace a new anime that’ll make things even weirder!
