Platinum End seems to be hurrying from major plot point to major plot point without allowing time to absorb matters fully. It leaves a lingering uncertainty of exactly who it is intended for, apart from existing fans of Ohba and Obata collaborations.

Immediately Boruto establishes itself as a coming of age story, a meditation on father-son relationships, and a tale of changing times. These are all rich and intriguing themes with a lot of potential worth exploring, and this first chapter weaves through them excellently, formulating a compelling read.

Whether Mashima maximizes the potential of this fight in a thoughtful manner remains to be seen, but it’s still a fascinating development, and despite the general messiness of this chapter, it does well to leave me interested in reading the next.

FukuFuku: Kitten Tales Vol. 1

Volume one of FukuFuku Kitten Tales is the kind of story anyone can read and enjoy, young or old. There is nothing objectionable in it nor is it a particularly tension driven read. Ultimately, Kitten Tales is just a simple story of an elderly woman and her cat. Frankly, there is nothing wrong with that.
