Platinum End Chapter 12

Chapter 12 of Platinum End is the most compelling to date. It finally feels like Platinum End is developing into its own thing rather than a haphazardly cobbled together manga of different titles.

Boruto: Naruto Next Generation #1

Immediately Boruto establishes itself as a coming of age story, a meditation on father-son relationships, and a tale of changing times. These are all rich and intriguing themes with a lot of potential worth exploring, and this first chapter weaves through them excellently, formulating a compelling read.

Fairy Tail #485

Whether Mashima maximizes the potential of this fight in a thoughtful manner remains to be seen, but it’s still a fascinating development, and despite the general messiness of this chapter, it does well to leave me interested in reading the next.

The Seven Deadly Sins #169

In this one sequence, we not only learn more about Escanor, but see him grow as a character, resolving his feelings for Merlin in a gratifying way. The pairing of Escanor and Gowther makes remarkable sense given the contrasts provided in this chapter: Gowther is driven by reason, whereas Escanor is driven by his emotion.

Fairy Tail #479

If last week’s chapter showed Fairy Tail’s weaknesses at some of it’s worst, this week shows what it’s capable of at it’s best. Every primary character involved influenced the fight in a direct and meaningful way.

The Seven Deadly Sins #167

It’s an immensely satisfying display of great action, characterization, and plot development, leaving much to look forward to with these characters in the future, even as the focus now shifts elsewhere. We’re three for three with these tournament fights so far, and here’s hoping the remainder prove just as strong.

Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches #199

This chapter is a great showcase of Yamada-kun’s strengths. From its believable teenage couple, relatable character-driven humor, adeptly used ensemble cast, and its ability to intertwine plot and character development with a strong comedic premise, there’s just a whole lot to love and laugh at here.
