“I’m giving you once chance. Surrender.” – Bad guy

“You must be new.” – Batman

This week we’re on a scavenger hunt! Yay! Oh, but it’s not a fun scavenger hunt…should’ve mentioned that. Batman has to visit all of his weapon caches and destroy them before Hush is able to use all his fun and dangerous toys against the city (again). But who’s that helping Batman? Is that…

This week’s Batman Eternal #33 is scripted by Kyle Higgins along with consulting from Tim Seeley and Ray Fawkes. Higgins has Batman in a fast paced situation, and everyone is breathing down Bruce Wayne’s back about the matter too – you’re keeping Batman’s weapons in Gotham?! – They don’t actually say that, but you get the idea.

Higgins does well to mix a bit of humor into this issue as well – via the quote up top from a scene featuring a “new” baddy as Batman faces off with another attempt by the GCPD. This scene works great because we see Batman instantly adapt to the situation and do what he does best (everything).

On the artwork side of this issue is Jason Fabok as the artist and Brad Anderson on colors. Fabok’s portrayal of Batman is classic, he’s big, he’s bruising, he has some stubble and could possibly use a shower. Anderson comes in and compliments Fabok’s artwork in a great way (both are quite detailed). The scene featuring the quote above showcases some of the great work these two artists can create together. The “new” guy has a big light on his right shoulder that illuminates some of the panels as he squares off with the Dark Knight. The GCPD officer is decked out in all sorts of gear, including a baton, a shield, and a goo launcher (you know the type right?) – and all of these things seem to give him the idea he has a chance against Batman, pfft…amateurs.

This week was a race to stop another one of Hush’s plans. But will Batman be able to stop it in time? And who’s helping him now?!
