Diana FestivalBloodshot Reborn #2 is the first appearance of FBI Special Agent Diana Festival. She’s a bit of an enigma. Agent Festival is brought in to lead the manhunt for the red circle killer. She is introduced to us at the crime scene where she is calmly sitting amid the scene, munching popcorn, and seemingly watching a movie. She’s seeing more than what’s on the screen, however. We see the crime through her eyes.

At this point, it’s too soon to tell whether she is able to visually revisit crimes or just has a keen intuitive ability to ascertain prospective sequences of events. We know the FBI considers her to be a phenom as a profiler and tracker. Are her talents harbinger-based? Is she an unactivated psiot? Is she something else altogether? Her ability to touch objects and experience the echoes of activity (if I’m interpreting the story correctly) reminds me of a Geomancer power as well – objects offering up their knowledge.

I wonder what she saw when she touched the fireworks in Bloodshot’s truck? We never got to find out, but she definitely hit upon something.

What are your theories about this new Valiant Femme? I think she’s intriguing, and I’m looking forward to finding out more about her abilities. Despite the violence associated with her line of work, she seems to be a positive person, unaffected by the horror of it and driven to solve the case. Given her line of work, it will be interesting to learn if she will behave in absolutes or will be able to accept the shades of grey when confronted with Bloodshot.
