The New 52: Futures End #33

This issue starts off with some good laughs and keeps the humor rolling from beginning to end. Who makes an appearance in this issue? Frankenstein and his amazing friends! That’s right, everyone’s favorite super-polite monster is back in this week’s The New 52: Futures End #33. Frank, along with Amethyst, The Atom, Black Adam, Hawkman, and the Engineer, faces off against the forces of S.H.A.D.E and Father Time. This is a team that always brings great story and often humorous scenarios whenever they’re on the page. This time featured Black Adam making quick work of some huge monsters, as one often does when presented with such large enemies.

The writers on this series are Brian Azzarello, Jeff Lemire, Dan Jurgens, and Keith Giffen. This issue they once again jump from story to story so we can see what a lot of the different characters are up to. Terry deals with the mind-bending aspects of time travel, while Fifty-Sue takes on a certain persona she’s been missing (Can you guess who? You looked at the cover! …Cheater).

On the art side of this issue is Aaron Lopresti and Stephen Thompson on pencils along with Art Thibert and Stephen Thompson on inks (Thompson is a busy guy!), with colors once again done by Hi-Fi. A fantastic scene in the beginning (where the above quote is from) shows Frankenstein and the others facing off against all sorts of chaos. The scene depicts the giant monsters that Black Adam eventually introduces himself to taking up the right side of the two-page spread. Along the page each person (except Black Adam and Hawkman, as they’re flying towards the action) is throwing a punch or swinging a sword, creating a giant picture of wonderful. The colors by Hi-Fi in this scene are also wonderful as each character stands out amongst the battle against the dark skies of space – also the big huge scary monsters look nice and scary.

This issue shows us a deeper look into Father Time (haha, you’ll get this when you read it…I’m funny), as well as shows us the trouble the new Firestorm has gotten herself into, all while reminding us that Fifty-Sue is certifiably insane.
