“It’s the damn Red Hood!”

“One night only, fellas. Come and get it while it’s good.”

Tim Seeley scripts this issue of Batman Eternal #28 from the story by Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV. As per his usual antics, he starts the story off with a laugh featuring the quote above and Red Hood. This scene is a great contrast to something we were shown last week continuing in this issue – Batgirl and her special friend hanging out on the side of a building (yeah I know…I made a “hanging out” joke…). Seeley deals with a lot of tough situations in this issue; Batgirl’s being a major one, but also a scene featuring Catwoman and Bones. Bones isn’t pleased with the cat, and he’s finally got her at a disadvantage, unfortunately for him he’s also got another captive (Jade)…with a really strong pal…that really wants her back.

The artwork this week is fantastic! Meghan Hetrick is the artist, with colors done incredibly well by Romulo Fajardo, Jr., both complementing each other’s styles perfectly. The amount of detail put into Killer Croc is really cool to see. Hetrick shows him bursting through the exit and grabbing the heads of two men. His rage showing off clear through his roaring mouth – filled with sharp teeth. This scene takes up an entire panel at the top of the page, with four small panels below it showing different character’s reactions. Fajardo Jr. gives the colors a realistic texture, blending the yellow and the green of Croc’s “hide” and coloring the spikes on his back an ivory white – together they make the Croc look truly menacing during a moment where he is overcome by love and determination.

This week brought a few scenes to a close we’ve seen in recent issues. Batgirl has been having the most trouble and deals with things her own way, and showing a similar desire to “save the one you love” Killer Croc takes things to the extreme – perhaps something Batgirl might have done if not for the appearance of a friend.
