This past year has been a great year of storytelling for Valiant, and what better way to celebrate than by nominating the best trades of the year. We asked each contributor to give us their picks for best trades of 2014, and here are the nominations!
Amy’s Favorite Trade: Harbinger Vol. 4: Perfect Day
Harbinger’s Perfect Day collects books #15-19. This arc follows what happens to the Renegades after Harbinger Wars. Dysart sends readers on a bit of a mind trip with plenty of surprises.
Honorable Mentions: Armor Hunters Vol 1.
Martin’s Favorite Trade: Rai Vol. 1: Welcome to New Japan
The first arc of Rai was so much fun there’s no way I couldn’t nominate this trade as one of the best of the year. Kindt and Crain are doing a terrific job with the series, and if it requires a 3 month hiatus in between arcs, then so be it. As good as these books read as single issues, the arc is so tightly connected that it reads even better in trade.
Honorable Mentions: Harbinger Vol. 5: Death of a Renegade
Paul’s Favorite Trade: Armor Hunters Vol. 1
Mexico City was blown up. A giant robot was busting up L.A., Godzilla style. What more could you ask for?
Honorable Mentions: Rai Vol. 1: Welcome to New Japan; Unity Vol.1: To Kill a King
Scott’s Favorite Trade: Bloodshot Vol. 4: H.A.R.D. Corps
Honorable Mentions: Unity vol. 1: To Kill a King; Quantum and Woody vol. 2: In Security
