“Call everyone who ever fought with the league, Firestorm. ‘Cuz we’re gonna need more help. But Godzilla is mine.”
He’s back! He’s finally back! Did you see? He’s even dressed like a normal person – makes me feel like I could even be him (if I hadn’t shaved my beard!)
Shazam brings more lighthearted fun to this issue as the real Man of Steel makes his way back into the superhero business (retirement isn’t always the best option). With Brainiac on a rampage there is only one man that can stop him – wait, but Batman is around, and he can do anything!
Writer Brian Azzarello, along with Jeff Lemire, Dan Jurgens, and Keith Giffen pushes the bigger scenes in this week’s issue of The New 52: Futures End #41 with different groups of heroes dealing with different aspects of the Brainiac/Brother Eye invasion. Robi…I mean Tim Drake is reluctantly pulled back into the mix and his presence alongside Batman makes for some good tension in this week’s issue.
On the art side of this week are pencillers Jesus Merino and Andy MacDonald. Macdonald is also on inks with Dan Green. Colors are once again done by Hi-Fi. The chaos of Brainiac has yet to be truly unleashed, but this issue makes sure to still deliver some great scenes. A premature attack on the Brainiac in space sends Hawkman through a wild ride (posted the pic on twitter…you’re following me right?) as he is zapped and met with images from DC’s past. The spread has Hawkman standing out into the center as his gold armor gleams, while the characters in the background are a shade of pink – and you can easily pick out some classic iterations of your favorite characters.
This week has some big character returns alongside some great artwork – and who’s that sliding down the elevator cables? Looks awfully familiar.
