ComixTribe announced today that it is expanding into the growing market for coloring books for young and old ones alike with the C is for Cthulhu Coloring Book.

Last week, in partnership with Eisner-nominated writer Jason Ciaramella (IDWs The Cape & Magic the Gathering) and digital artist Greg Murphy, ComixTribe launched its eight successful Kickstarter campaign to crowdfund the new coloring book.

“We’re thrilled to once again enjoy the support of the C is for Cthulhu community in helping us bring this coloring book to life,” said Ciaramella.

The C is for Cthulhu Coloring Book blew past its $9,000 funding goal in a little more than four days, and has continued to pick up steam on Kickstarter.

Today, the C is for Cthulhu team unveiled a set of stretch goals for the project, including expanding the book’s page count, inserting a sheet of full-color stickers, and even expanding its line of custom C is for Cthulhu plush toys designed in partnership with Skelton Crew Studio (Hellboy, CHEW, BPRD) to include a Black Cthulhu variant.

The team is also committing to donate a copy of the coloring book to a Children’s Hospital or other worthy book drive for every $250 raised above their goal, and the books are already starting to pile up.

“We realize how blessed we are to have such a loyal and enthusiastic C is for Cthulhu fanbase,” said ComixTribe publisher Tyler James.

“The reality is, 7 out of every 10 publishing projects on Kickstarter fail to hit their goal. The fact that every single campaign we’ve run has significantly overfunded is something for which we are extremely grateful.”

James also shares the mindset, strategy, and tactics behind ComixTribe’s crowdfunding success on the ComixLaunch podcast, the number one crowdfunding podcast for comic creators and small press publishers.

In addition to the usual Kickstarter rewards, the C is for Cthulhu team is also giving away a new box of crayons to a backer selected at random every single day of the campaign.

“Yes, Kickstarter campaigns are a lot of work… but they’re also an opportunity to have a some fun. That’s why we’re giving out free downloadable coloring sheets now, and sending out boxes of crayons to backers even before the campaign ends.”

The Kickstarter campaign will run until April 29.

Murphy and Ciaramella are also working on a follow-up to the C is for Cthulhu board book titled Sweet Dreams, Cthulhu: A Lovecraftian Bedtime Story.
