Titles Launching Next Summer Include Junji Ito’s VENUS IN THE BLIND SPOT And SPLATOON: SQUID KIDS COMEDY SHOW

San Francisco, CA, November 18, 2019 – VIZ Media announced exciting new publishing acquisitions scheduled for release throughout the Summer of 2020 during its official panel held this past weekend at Anime NYC.

From the Eisner award-winning horror master Junji Ito, VENUS IN THE BLIND SPOT is a “best of” hardcover collection of creepy tales featuring special interior color pages and illustrations. A new Splatoon manga series was also announced for fans of all ages: SPLATOON: SQUID KIDS COMEDY SHOW is a series of gag comics filled with Inkling antics from the hit Nintendo video game.

Additional information on each of these titles will be announced in the near future.

This ultimate collection presents the most remarkable short works of Junji Ito’s career, featuring an adaptation of Rampo Edogawa’s classic horror story “Human Chair” and fan favorite “The Enigma of Amigara Fault.” In a deluxe presentation with special color pages and color illustrations from his most recent long-form manga NO LONGER HUMAN, every page invites readers to revel in a world of terror.

New Inklings take center stage as they and their friends embark on hilarious escapades in the world of Splatoon, the hit video game series from Nintendo!

Additionally, Viz announced that they will be releasing the following Shonen Jump manga in digital volumes in 2020:

o    ROBOTxLASERBEAM (Summer 2020)

o    RED SPRITE (Winter 2019)

o    LOVE RUSH (early 2020)

o    HI-FI CLUSTER (early 2020)

o    YUI KAMIO LETS LOOSE (early 2020)

o    THE LAST SAIYUKI (early 2020)

o    NE0;LATION (Spring 2020)

o    HELL WARDEN HIGUMA (Spring 2020)

o    STEALTH SYMPHONY (Spring 2020)

These series were all previously serialized in Viz Media’s digital Shonen Jump and app. All of them can currently be read on the app in their entirety, with the exception of Robot x Laserbeam, which only has the first three chapters availabel to read at this time. Also notable is that all these titles are short-lived series that generally only run two to three volumes each. Robot x Laserbeam stands out as a longer series, running seven volumes long, while Yui Kamio Lets Loose is an ongoing title whose third volume will come out in early December in Japan. It’s exciting that all these series will become available to purchase in digital volumes in the near future!

In other VIZ Media news…

DEMON SLAYER Manga Speed Up – Viz Media also announced at their Shonen Jump panel that Demon Slayer will have expedited volume releases beginning in May 2020, upon which new volumes will be released monthly. This is similar to other manga speed-ups Viz has done with popular titles in the past to catch up to the latest Japanese volume releases, most notably with One Piece, Naruto, Haikyu!, and My Hero Academia. Demon Slayer volume 9 was released by Viz earlier this month, with volumes 10 and 11 slated for January and March respectively. The speed-up starting in May will likely begin with volume 12. Demon Slayer is currently 17 volumes in Japan, and an ongoing series. However, it has been speculated that the series may be in its final arc and heading towards its conclusion. If so, we may see volume releases end in both Japan and the U.S. within 2020.

Finally, Pluto TV has just launched a dedicated NARUTO anime channel (CH 677).
