Hello listeners! It’s time to fly higher, further, faster with another Patreon Peek of one of our Patreon Bonus Podcasts!

The results of our latest survey showed that many of our listeners REALLY liked our Spider-Verse episode of @ Movies with Vix where we really dived deep into the history of the characters that appeared in the film. We recorded several other @ Movies podcasts like that that we released as Patreon-exclusive episodes, and I thought that now that some time has passed we could share them on our public feed as well.

Today we’re commemorating a year since Captain Marvel’s theatrical release by sharing part of our review of the movie, previously released exclusively on our Patreon! Vix joins us to give a detailed rundown of the history of Carol Danvers, tracking her journey from her less than feminist origins to her current iconic status! Vix notoriously used to hate Captain Marvel, but has her opinion changed now that she’s read her entire canonical comics history? Does the film’s presentation of Carol and her origins ring true to the heart of her character? We discuss why Carol Danvers is definitely not “just a girl” by going over her comics and the movie in depth!

If you like what you hear, you can listen to our full podcast at patreon.com/mangamavericks, where we have almost a dozen other bonus podcasts waiting for you at our $5 tier, including other @ Movies reviews of Alita: Battle Angel and Dragon Ball Super: Broly!

Our recent project is another Manga Mavericks Book Club read-through series. Colton and Doctor will be going through Masami Kurumada’s classic shonen epic Saint Seiya two volumes at a time! You can check out a free preview of the entire first episode on our feed now, and pledge to our Patreon to hear the rest as they come out!
