“Helloooo Mr. Ether Bunny…”
It’s Batman up against the newly organized team of Bane, Ivy, Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze, and Clayface in this week’s Batman Eternal #38.
This week the writer, scripting from the story by Scott Snyder and James Tynion, is Tim Seeley and he creates yet another action/humor packed issue of Batman Eternal. One of the greatest scenes this issue comes from a confrontation between Killer Croc and Bane – it’s interesting to find out who is controlling who in this situation. In this confrontation we find out just how tactical Killer Croc can be in a fight (why hasn’t Batman thought of these things before?).
Also this week we see Batman and Penny-Two working together harder than ever as Batman is left with only a few more gadgets to help him take out the villains of Gotham City – luckily he seems to know what he’s doing.
On the art side of this issue is artist Andrea Mutti along with colorist Giulia Brusco. Together these two create some great work, especially during the Bane/ Killer Croc altercation as mentioned above (such a great scene!). A page of this action shows the different slashes Croc is making against Bane in order to cause the most pain on the egotistical brute. There’s a green hue in the slash marks of Croc while the red blood of Bane spews out from each panel (queasy yet?). Mutti did a great job of showing the impact on Bane as even while he’s wearing a mask we can clearly see his pain via facial expression, all while Croc is looking as sinister as ever.
This week gave us great insight as to how Batman continues to clean up Gotham, and how many ties Catwoman now has to the city as well as its villains. Also Batman makes a bad joke (according to Penny-Two).
