“Oh, wow. And here I am wearing this. Awkwarddd…”
“Don’t worry about it, Billy. I appreciate the sentiment.”
Now if only Batman could get a beard…Hipster Superman/Batman could be a thing! Are all beards hipster now though? Unrelated…back on topic – this week’s The New 52: Futures End! And an excellent pairing happens right from the get-go with Shazam and Superman – Shazam miiiight want to change his outfit now though…
Brian Azzarello along with fellow writers Jeff Lemire, Keith Giffen, and Dan Jurgens bring the fight to the streets this week (also space…but mostly the streets) as both present and future Batman do their parts to prevent the disastrous future from happening…but is it too late?
On the artwork side of this week’s issue is penciller Scot Eaton along with inker Scott Hanna and colors by Hi-Fi. A panel definitely worth mentioning is seeing Billy finally blast into his Shazam suit once more – after spending the series thus far pretending to be Superman. Eaton gives the transformation a great page, showing Billy alongside Superman while still in his own Super attire until a lighting bolt cracks down the middle of the page, and then ta-da! He’s ready! A supercharged (the bright yellow electricity taking over) Shazam is ready to fight alongside the Man of Steel himself. The page itself is well crafted, very fun, and splashed with color by Hi-Fi, and all four of the characters fighting against the massive Brainiac on earth each get featured on the page.
Brainiac, Brother Eye, Three blade razors! So many things threatening the world! The future is ending! Or something…
