All-Comic’s You Should Be Reading is the weekly list of comics we can’t wait to get our hands on. Each of our writers picks their most-anticipated comic for the upcoming week and sums up why it needs to be on your radar. Get your comic shop on the phone – here’s what you should be reading on November 13, 2019. This week, we’re looking at 2099 Alpha #1, Marauders #2 and Punisher Kill Krew #5.
2099 Alpha #1 by Nick Spencer, Viktor Bogdonavic, Marte Gracia
Jeremy: If you grew up in the 90’s the 2099 universe was a must read. Now, decades later we look back on that universe unfavorably, until now. Nick Spencer is writing this alpha issue, and to be honest, it’s kind of exciting. Some of the character got a make over and the danger is real and relevant. Spencer should have earned your trust with his work on amazing spider man. This is worth a look.
Marauders #2 by Gerry Duggan, Matteo Lolli, Federico Blee
Josh: After one of the best Dawn of X debuts, it’s hard to pass this book up. Not only does it a great cast including Kitty, Storm, Bishop, Iceman AND Emma Frost, Duggan is writing them perfectly. The tone here is a nice mix of fun and drama as Kitty leads a handful of X-Men in their maritime adventures. Notably, it already has its problems as a lighting mistake changed Storm’s skin color last issue – but here’s hoping the team will learn and improve.
Punisher Kill Krew #5 by Gerry Dugan, Juan Ferreyra, Cory Petit
Luke: As the series comes to an end, the reader is promised 3 things: Castle against the big bad; some laughs, likely from Foggy Nelson and, surprisingly enough, Juggernaut; and, hopefully, some closure regarding the kids that spawned the “Kill Krew’s” mission. This book has been a consistent winner since issue one. It’s a shame that it’s over, but I can’t wait to see how it ends.
