All-Comic’s You Should Be Reading is the weekly list of comics we can’t wait to get our hands on. Each of our writers picks their most-anticipated comic for the upcoming week and sums up why it needs to be on your radar. Get your comic shop on the phone – here’s what you should be reading on September 4, 2019. This week, we’re looking at Archie 1955 #1 and Spider-Man #1.
Archie 1955 #1 by Mark Waid, Brian Augustyn, Tom Grummett, Bob Smith, Glenn Whitmore, Jack Morelli
Josh: Remember last year when Mark Waid and Tom Grummett plunged Archie and co. into a gritty war story? Well by popular demand that team is back with a (seemingly) more light hearted look at Archie through the ages. This series kicks off with the age of rock n roll – and our boy’s quest for fame and fortune. Waid and Grummett have both proven themselves time and time again; slap those names on a book with Archie on the cover, and you can guarantee a worthwhile read.
Spider-Man #1 by J.J. Abrams, Henry Abrams, Sara Pichelli, Dave Stewart,
Jeremy: There are a slew of spider books out there right now, but what separates this from most is that J.J. Abrams and his son Henry are writing this together. It seems like everything J.J. touches turns to gold on the big screen, so comics should be an easy transition. With pencils by Sara Pichelli, this almost seems like a can’t miss book.
